On 1st August 2026, a Child Rights Awareness Event was held at Government Secondary School (GSS) Kanadap, Kuru, Plateau State. The event, themed "Promoting Child Rights and Child Protection in Kuru Community," brought together stakeholders committed to promoting the welfare, protection, and development of children.

The programme was organized through the collaboration of the Plateau State Gender and Equal Opportunities Commission, Trefoil Guild Nigeria, Behwong Yei Hwosho Vwel Kuru (BHHVK), and Simji Girl-Child Empowerment Initiative.

One of the key highlights of the event was the presentation by the Trefoil Guild Country Chair, Hon. Ambassador Grace Frank Ojobo, who delivered an insightful talk on "The Role of Parents, Schools, and the Community in Child Protection." She emphasized that safeguarding children is a shared responsibility. She encouraged parents to provide love, guidance, and proper supervision; urged schools to create safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments; and called on community members to remain vigilant, report abuse, and work together to uphold the rights and dignity of every child.

The event also served as a platform to raise awareness about child rights, promote collaboration among stakeholders, and inspire collective action toward creating a safer and more supportive environment for children in Kuru Community.

The programme concluded with a renewed commitment from participants to continue advocating for child protection, ensuring that every child matters and every right counts.
