TREFOIL GUILD NIGERIA CELEBRATES WORLD THINKING DAY
World Thinking Day 2026, an international programme that gave birth to Trefoil Guild Nigeria (TGN) the adult arm of the Nigeria Girl Guides Association (NGGA) was celebrated with renewed commitment to leadership and service.
This year, leaders of TGN converged in Abuja for a strategic leadership retreat, which culminated in the commemoration of World Thinking Day.
The Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulieman-Ibrahim represented by Ebele Obiafuna, assured Nigerians that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains deeply concerned about the welfare of women and children and is committed to expanding empowerment programmes for citizens across the country.
Trefoil Guild Nigeria, alongside the NGGA, the Boys Scouts, the Girls’ Brigade Nigeria, and several non-governmental organisations including the National Women Platform on Security Sector, Leah Foundation, Good Friends Community Development Association, Yenbyen Foundation, Sarah Dagah Foundation, and the #FreeLeah initiative participated in the event, reinforcing a collective commitment to nation building.
Country Chair, Grace Ojobo, explained that the programme aimed to intensify collaboration for greater impact nationwide, ensuring that the voice of the girl child is heard and that policies promoting values and inclusivity for children regardless of gender are strengthened.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Plangsat Bitrus Dayil focused on the theme, “Friendship,” describing it as a powerful force that shapes leadership, strengthens communities, and advances peace and development. She explored friendship as a strategic driver of progress and sustainable development.
Dayil also urged members of the Nigerian Girl Guides Association and Trefoil Guild to embrace friendship both as a core value and a leadership strategy, encouraging compassionate leadership, inclusivity, collaboration over competition, and stronger global connections within the Guiding movement.
The National Adviser of TGN, Dame Dr. Christie Toby, and the Chief Commissioner of NGGA, Deaconess Rhoda Thomas, provided mentorship and guidance to the leaders of Trefoil Guild Nigeria.
